This is going to my lengthy review of the Dland Bluetooth shower speaker.
In this review I’m going to be talking about whether or not this is worth buying, its strong as well as weak points, and everything I can think of so that you can either decide it’s for you, or pass and look at something else.
I hate wasting money on junk, and I’m sure you do too. So that’s why I’m hoping this will help you make an informed decision on this Bluetooth speaker for your shower.
This review is primarily for how well I feel it does in the shower. That’s what I bought it for.
But this IS waterproof which means you can bring it to the beach, whitewater rafting or camping. It’s even submersible to 33 feet, or 10 meters. Though I have NOT tested that depth. Just in the bathtub.

Seeing this is a speaker, the sound is probably the number one concern for you as it was me. So how is this little 3 watt speaker?
One thing I was impressed with is that it is “stereo” sounding. How they get that effect from a single speaker I have no idea. But it is Stereo!
Although it’s not going to rock your world, even though it is pretty loud.
If you have a sick stereo system in your car and your home system cost thousands, then you’re going to be disappointed.
But if you’re looking for “decent” sound for a shower that’s loud enough to listen to over the sound your shower is making, this is fine.
Truthfully the speaker lacks quality tone and the bass is a bit muffled if you crank it. Some songs sound great, while others (with a lot of bass) sound so-so.
If you listen to talk radio, then this is perfect.
But for music, I’d give it an 8 out of 10.
Dland claims their battery for is superior to their competition’s. From a quick scan, I can say that they do use a battery with more millamps than most of their competitors, not all.
They use a 600mAH lithium ion battery. And apparently most others only use a 400mAH. Although it’s only 200mAH more, it is supposed to make the battery last twice as long.
So here’s what I have to say about the battery…
Once I charged it, I set this up in my shower on the wall using their suction cup. The battery lasted about a week from that first charge, using the shower for about 30 minutes per day. (Yes, I LOVE my shower!)
After that, it took about 2 hours to fully charge using my computer’s USB port.
Are those great metrics? No idea. But they are ones I can live with and are happy with.
One of the main benefits of this speaker is that it is a Bluetooth one. But so what? What does that mean exactly and why should you care?
Being a wireless option is the number one benefit of using Bluetooth for all sorts of gadgets. Bluetooth is a way for you to hookup gadgets to other gadgets without using wires. So…
Bluetooth = Wireless “ness”.
That means this Dland speaker doesn’t need any wires at all. There’s no installation or “wiring” the speaker up. It simply connects to any device that uses Bluetooth like your smart phone. So whatever music you can play on your phone, you can listen to through your speaker.
And since there are no wires at all, it’s super easy to just grab this wireless bluetooth shower speaker and go. Put it into your backpack or even your shorts side pocket. Then when you’re where you want to be, take it out and start listening to your music instantly. Simple!
Great it you want to listen to your own music at, say at a public pool or the beach.
When something is listed as waterproof and not just water resistant, the game changes. To be truly waterproof a gizmo must be submersible to a certain depth. And this unit is, to a depth of 10 meters, or 33 feet.
Now this is the technical specs. I haven’t tested this speaker to that depth. But I have completely submersed the speaker in my bathtub, so maybe three feet.
I held it for a few minutes and did this a few times. Each time it started working perfectly. So yes, it’s definitely submersible (guaranteed to at least three feet!).
Now the benefits of this should be self explanatory.
- Use the speaker pool side and it gets dropped into the pool by mistake, now worries.
- Leave it out in the rain? So what!
- Drop it in the river on a fishing trip, just use your net to fish it back out. Piece of cake!
Being waterproof and not just water resistant opens a lot of uses for this little guy. And so far it has stood up to its claim as being a waterproof speaker.
Shock & Dust Proof
If you’re using this out of the shower than being shock proof can be really useful. This is a little speaker at 3.5 x 2.5 inches, so if it was on like a table next to a pool or something, it might be easy to knock off.
Or even though this has a pretty good suction cup to hold it to the tile of your shower, these suction cups can let loose as well, letting the speaker fall to the floor.
So being shockproof is definitely a plus one for this.
Dust Proof just means it’s a good casing that won’t let air and dust into it. Being waterproof, I’d say that should be expected. But again, a great extra spec.
I got my Dland speaker from Amazon. It shipped quick and I received it in 3 days. Here’s what’s inside…
- The speaker itself. Black with a blue ring.
- An owner’s manual. (not much in it!)
- And a charging cord.
How far can the speaker be from my Bluetooth device?
I’ve tested this and it’s about 30 feet. A little less if you’re using it between rooms, meaning there are walls between the speaker and device. But in the back yard, a good thirty plus feet.
How long does it take to charge?
About 2 hours from being dead.
Are there any Auxiliary jacks or inputs?
No. This is Bluetooth only. So you can’t hook it up to anything that doesn’t have Bluetooth. And I think it would cause problems with being waterproof and all. The only other “plug” is for the charger.
How good is the fm radio?
It’s been totally decent for me. I use this in the shower and it still picks up most of the radio stations my car radio would. And it’s a nice little feature if I don’t want to use my phone or some other device. So a good feature and it works well.
Well, that’s about it for this review. I mean, it’s a little bluetooth speaker, there’s not much more I can tell you about it.
Is it the very best speaker for your shower?
Maybe not the very best, but for the cost and size, this little guy packs a punch that is definitely worth getting at this price at less than $30 (with free shipping!)
But like I mentioned before, this company only sells through Amazon. I guess it’s cost efficient for them. You can pick it up here.
