Europe 1 radio
If you are on FM very often then you would have heard about the Europe 1 radio and the Europe 2 radios. They are nothing but two popular radio networks: Europe 1 radio and Europe 2 radio. Europe 1 radio is basically a privately-owned radio network, which was created in the year1955. It is one of the leading French radio broadcasters and is heard throughout France. The operation of Europe 1 is being done by Lagardère Active, who is the owner of Europe 1 as well. It is a subsidiary of the Lagardère Group.
Europe 1 was established in the Saarland to avoid prohibition of commercial broadcasting in France after the World War II. The part of the broadcasting corporation was bought by the French government in the year1959. Since the beginning, Europe 1’s priorities were two-fold: first, news and cultural information with an emphasis on eyewitness accounts rather than an announcer with a script; second, shows aimed at establishing bonds with listeners, including plays, contests, informal talk, popular music, and street-level politics. In both respects, it was a departure from radio formats of the day.
Europe 2 radio
Another French network of FM radio stations is Europe 2 radio, which is known as Virgin Radio but until January 2008 its name was Europe 2. It is completely dedicated to Rock and pop music and is operating in 250 different frequencies across France. Completely modern hot adult format is used in I’s musical programming. And this station capital also does not belong to Virgin Group, but to Lagardère Active, which owns Europe2 radio as well. It has to pay 0.5 to 1% of its profits to Virgin Group under a franchise contract.
Approximately three million listeners are claimed by Virgin Radio every day and it is gaining popularity like anything. The reason is considered to be its contemporary music which is the demand of every teen these days.
